Ceiling
An acoustic ceiling is the separating element that is going to have the most significant effect on the airborne sound insulation between floors, between you and your neighbours, or in you own home.
Sound Insulation store offer a number of acoustic ceiling materials. From high mass acoustic boards, to acoustic ceiling fixings, such as resilient bars or a clip and channel system. It is essential to get the correct specification for your acoustic ceiling. It is not just about the product but how they are installed and fixed. The three main areas to consider when specifying an acoustic ceiling are Insulation, Isolation and Mass. Installing the correct insulation within your ceiling system is essential for absorption of the sound that has potential to resonate within empty cavities amplifying the noise between the floor and ceiling. Choosing the correct thickness and density of insulation will effect the absorption ecoefficiency and the overall sound insulation through the separating floor and ceiling. The installation of the ceiling is where isolation is essential. Isolation means separation or de-coupling. By Decoupling the ceiling this limits the sound energy transfer. If the ceiling boards are fixed rigidly direct into the existing ceiling structure the sound can transfer easily through the bridged, rigid build up. An independent ceiling frame, resilient bar or clip and channel system give isolation in a ceiling. Finally the more mass within your ceiling build up the higher the acoustic performance. We provide a number of high mass boards, barriers and other materials that work in conjunction with your ceiling system.
